I’ve been very pleased with this bowl so far. We have two dogs around 40 pounds and one that’s 8 pounds, so we needed a bowl that would work for all of our dogs. The bowl is large, and we haven’t experienced any leaks while it’s been hooked up to the hose. it’s so nice not to have to fill the bowl up three times a day! overall, we are very pleased with the Sir Aqua automatic watering bowl and would recommend it.

This works great! I now no longer have to drag the hose out and fill the water dish for my two dogs. After they get their drink, it fills right back up for them to get another later on. Great for me and them! I would buy it again, if that helps. Also very speedy shipping!

I bought this in order to have water outside for my 6 dogs, it works great so far. I had it about a month. Make sure you buy a hose that can handle the water pressure. The first hose I used burst with a bunch of little holes, the new hose works great.

Though I have only had the Sir Aqua 2 water bowl for a short time, it keeps my dog in constant cool clean water.So far he likes it so much, that he lies down next to it, during the height of the hot weather. Dave’s Humble Opinion About The Nelson 1200 Dog Waterer

Dave’s Humble Opinion

I am a guy and I like commercial grade stuff, it is usually heavier and more durable, but there is a price to pay for that durability.

Commercial grade products usually come with a commercial grade price (but you usually get what you pay for) and we’ll see where the Nelson 1200 comes in on price in a few minutes.

“Commercial grade” also usually implies rugged and sturdy construction with heavy duty materials that will last for years and years and it appears that Nelson has hit the nail on the head with this one.

304 grade stainless steel (whatever that is), a float guard made of the same stuff and a float activated water valve with the bare minimum of moving parts (less moving parts = less chances of breaking)

The 1200 also boasts some claims about the plastic fittings being food grade and USDA compliant which is all very good and well, the next plus for this product is the installation or mounting bracket, it’s basic enough for a retarded monkey to be able to figure out.

This is all good stuff and provides more than a convincing argument when it comes to “should I buy it” but again I look at the commercial grade factor and wonder if I need something this solid, as I am only going to use 6 or 7 months out of the year here in Kansas because its going to be outside and only going to be used by one dog and I’m not gonna fork out whatever it cost to have a warmer attached to it in the winter and blah, blah, blah… I can go on for days if you’d let me.

This product is geared toward folks who raise dogs or train dogs and have a facility designed for long term use with controlled temperatures or possibly as an indoor (attached garage) dog waterer.

I also look at the fact that in the heat of the summer, there will still be water simmering in the bowl because it only replenishes whatever the dog drinks and if an individual (like me) doesn’t pay attention and clean the reservoir out regularly, the dog will still be drinking dirty, tepid water.

The Nelson 1200b runs about $120 and there seem to be only a few places to buy it and Amazon is not one of those places…

Apparently the Aqua Buddy is ‘stylish’ and it’s pleasing design will flow well (pun intended) with whatever exterior decor you choose to introduce it to.

From the pictures I would agree that this is a good looking piece of equipment, as far as dog water bowls go, it actually caught my eye when I was looking for the WaterDog Pet Fountain.

The Aqua Buddy fairs very well on the price-o-meter, coming in well below the Nelson 1200B at around $24 – $30 (depending where you shop).

This little gadget here is the answer to most of my problems about keeping my dogs hydrated.

The WaterDog automatic dog watering system is an answer to prayer because it does exactly what I want, it provides fresh, cool water from the tap with out my “far from genius” dogs having to learn how to operate the ‘lick and sip’ (or what ever it’s called) that’s collecting dust in the garage as we speak.

The WaterDog has a motion detector and a timed valve that squirts water out whenever one of the dogs comes up to it.

Most of the ads I saw had a dog drinking off the stream, that must be one of those “genius” dogs, mine just fills a small bowl under the spigot.

It’s not a very big bowl at all, just enough to catch and hold a healthy slurp or two.

I don’t know if my dogs figured out that it shoots more out if they back up and come right back or if they just know they can get a drink if they stop by.

Either way, problem solved!

Have had this more than a year, and it gets HEAVY use. Was fine out all year through a heavy freeze but kept working. Absolutely a MUST for ANYONE with a dog and a yard, especially at such a marginal cost!

Great source of fresh water

My dog used to have a nozzle that fit on the end of the faucet outside. He had to lick it to get the water to come out. This is so much better! The other only gave out a small stream and he had to lick at it for several minutes swallowing air with the water.

Pros-This product supplies endless fresh water. It is easy for the dog to drink out of. It decreased the air my dog swallowed over other automatic waterers that hook up to the faucet. My dog gets to drink as much as he wants.

Cons-green algae grows in the bottom. We just dump it periodically and wipe it out.

Summary-we will definitely be buying more of these as the need arises.

Great product, but one annoying flaw

This product works really well, and it didn’t take my dog long to figure out how to use it. HOWEVER, one day I noticed my dog was bleeding on the side of her mouth where she drank from the Lixit. Because it’s metal, it gets really hot if it’s in direct sunlight during the day -so I would suggest putting something in front of it to shade it if it’s not shaded already. My dog was definitely affected by the burn and she doesn’t use the Lixit very much any more.

The Lixit faucet dog waterer is a tough, reliable product that works as advertised. You attach the Lixit to an outside hose faucet, and turn on the faucet. The dog licks the control lever on the Lixit, and water momentarily flows down around the lever. The dog quickly gets the idea and repeatedly licks the lever, causing a slow, continuous flow of water, which stops when the dog stops licking. The only problems I’ve ever seen with the Lixit are that it does sometimes leak a little (but since it is for outside use, this isn’t a big deal), and that if it is attached to a faucet that is in the sun, the metal parts can get pretty hot. Other than that, it just works.

Just remember to check them from time to time

I’ve had several of these over the years. They work great but eventually they wear out. Make sure to check them cause if they aren’t working it could be a real bad situation for your dog. I find that after a few years they start to leak and also hard water deposits will clog them.

A great product for the convenience of not having to refill water bowls for pets and providing fresh water. However, unless the lixit is at an almost perfectly vertical (right) angle to the ground, it will not completely shut off, but continue to drip or dribble with a heavier flow the farther it is from vertical.
